Former Zimbabwe Cricket Captain appointed as Director of Cricket Zimbabwe


Hamilton Masakadza the former Zimbabwe Captain has been appointed Zimbabwe Director of Cricket, a newly created role by the national board for transforming the game in the country both on and off the field. From November 1 2019, the former Zimbabwe captain will officially begin in his new role.This decision was taken by the Zimbabwe Cricket, in August, where the board passed a resolution to restructure its management.

ZC Chairman Tavengwa said "This appointment is a key which clearly indicates our desire to strengthen and cricket across all levels, while also improving the game administratively. We are excited about Hamilton Masakadza taking up the role, which will see him bringing a great perspective to the administration of cricket and helping us to shape our futue games".

Hamilton Masakadza who retired from international cricket last month, will be tasked with defining policy, strategy and programmes of best practice throughout all aspects of the Zimbabwe Cricket pathway. He will also be responsible for the recruitment, management and interaction of senior cricket technical staff.

Masakadza will also be in charge of ensuring that the coaches and captains are providing effective leadership to the national teams.
