For the first time Washington Nationals win World Series
Washington Nationals are World Series champions for the 1st time after beating the Houston Astros 6-2 in the decisive 7th game in Texas.
It is the 1st time in history that the visiting team has won all 7 games of the Fall Classic.
The Astros led 2-0 after 6 innings before Washington Anthony Rendon and Howie Kendrick homered in the 7th to turn the game on its head.
Nationals pitcher Stephen Strasburg was the series' most valuable player.
Strasburg had been the winning pitcher in both his starts, in games 2 and 6.
Washington showed incredible determination to win the World Series. They made everyone sit up and take notice with 2 great wins in Houston. Washington looked calm even when they were trailing early in the game. With a loud crowd with them, Houston had chances to score runs in every inning but did not take their chances. Finally they have been rewarded with the sports greatest prize and it is hard to begrudge them that success.
